2. Experience the Midnight Sun
You create the best summer memories in the middle of the night – we know all about that.
The midnight sun captivates us all, regardless of whether we were born and raised here or if you are experiencing it for the first time.
It is hard to explain. It’s light all day and all night, but the sounds and atmosphere tell us when it’s nighttime. The animals and birds know it too. We call it “The infinite Nordland nights”. You simply have to experience it to understand!
3. Sauna and Arctic Swimming
Swimming above the Arctic Circle is a must. You can try out a sauna in the middle of the city centre, or visit one of the chalk white sandy beaches in the region.
4. Saltstraumen – The world´s strongest maelstrom
The spectacular natural phenomenon is located just outside Bodø city center, and is one of the main attractions in the region.
You can spend a day in the area around the maelstrom, or go on a RIB-boat safari from Bodø city center. The last option will give you an adrenaline rush as you get to feel the strong forces beneath you.

In recent years, Bodø & Salten has become a destination for high-quality dining experiences with arctic ingredients, well-composed menus and genuine northern Norwegian hospitality.

Are you visiting between September 1st and April 1st you have pretty good chances at seeing lady aurora. The dancing light over the midnights sky is something really special, and we never get tired of seeing the mesmerizing phenomena.
