Hike Description

There are numerous great spots to take a break along the way. If the weather turns unfavorable, you can seek shelter in the grill hut by Kallstadvatnet. There are also lovely swimming spots, particularly on the rocky outcrops near Tuvagården, where you’ll also get a glimpse of an old Sámi settlement. This trail was crowned as the most attractive outdoor area in both Nordland and Hamarøy in 2015.

Start at the Hamsun Center, follow the trail signs towards Oppeid. Soon, you’ll be on the old travel route to Kallstad. Follow the signs towards the shoreline and continue until you reach Dragseidet. Here, leave the coastline, follow the boat drag for a stretch, then cross Kallstadveien and return to the old travel route. After about 1.5 km, you’ll be back on Kallstadveien. Follow this road for about 400 meters, then take a left onto a forest road. Follow the cairns until you reach Tuvagården. From here, you can choose to follow the shoreline to Presteidbrua or take the path through the forest over Bleiåsen (not marked). After Presteidbrua, turn left downhill from the gas station and find the trail again that leads you back to the starting point.
