11 things to do while traveling with youth

Summer holiday in Northern Norway? Is there anything to do there? Oh yes, Absolutely!
We have lots of good suggestions for experiences you will share on Snap, Insta and Tik Tok.
Here is our “summer-bucketlist” – see how many experiences you can cross off this summe

1. RIB-rafting i Saltstraumen

How about an action-packed RIB safari in the world’s strongest tidal current? Fitted out with a flotation suit, life jacket and goggles, you will be warm and safe as you speed across the fjord towards mighty Saltstraumen, regardless of the weather. Stella Polaris and Explore Salten can take you on an exciting RIB safari to Saltstraumen including white-tailed eagles, history and a few tall tales added in for good measure.

2. Snorkeling i Saltstraumen

If you want to experience this natural phenomenon from below the surface, you can join Nord&Ne on a guided diving or snorkeling trip in Saltstraumen. 

3. Fishing

Join a fishing trip by boat with Arctic Cruise or Explore Salten, or fish from the rocks on a bright summer’s night and return with fresh fish for supper.

4. Climbing

If you enjoy excitement and dare to have a physical challenge and test your fear of heights, you could climb our Via Ferrata, to the summit of Strandåtinden at Kjerringøy on a guided excursion with Nordland Adventures, or join them up to the summit of Stetind.
Imagine sending a Snap from the top of Norway’s national mountain! If you prefer the lowlands, you can test your climbing skills at Mørkvedhallen Climbing Centre.

5. Mørkvedhallen Climbing center

Mørkvedhallen Climbing Center is one of Europe’s newest and most modern indoor climbing facilities. This is a favorite with both young people and adults in Bodø. Try automatic filing system, high rope walls up to 15 meters, boulder walls and lots more.

6. Caving

There are many caves in the Salten region. On a guided caving trip with Nordland Adventures, you can experience huge giant’s kettles, wonderful stalactites and foaming waterfalls in Aspfjordgrotta.

7. Glacier walking

If you want to try glacier walking, you can make the trip to the Svartisen glacier in Meløy, just a 90-minute drive from downtown from Bodø. Svartisen is Norways second biggest glacier, and one of the most accessible in Europe. Also it is the perfect insta-spot for your holiday photos!

8. Sea kayaking

This wonderful nature-based experience brings you closer to the elements and gives you a whole new feeling of being a part of it all. Hush. Is that an otter swimming past? Everything occurs safely and on nature’s terms on a guided sea kayaking trip with Rett kjøl. Don’t forget to bring your camera.

9. Norwegian Aviation museum and Flight simulator

Fulfill your dream of flying with a session in a flight simulator at the Newton Flight Academy, and experience the surprisingly interesting civil and military aviation history at the Norwegian National Aviation Museum, which is the largest aviation museum in Europe and covers 10,000 m².

10. Royal bowling &
Bodø Action Hall

Take your gang for some competitive action at Royal Bowling or Bodø Actionhall. play pool, lazertag, escaperooms and more!

11. Nordlandsbadet Water park

We can’t guarantee that the bathing temperature will reach 20 ˚C at all the wonderful beaches in the Salten region, but we certainly can at the Nordlandsbadet indoor water park. It’s always warm enough to swim here.
