Foodie Weekend in Bodø
Bodø is compact and full of experiences for those interested in good food. Here are our tips for the best food experiences for those looking for a foodie weekend in Bodø.
1. The best lunch places
Brødrene Berbusmel
Start the day off with coffee at Brødrene Berbusmel. Here, you can also enjoy the city’s largest and softest cinnamon buns, as well as delicious lunch dishes like salads or sandwiches on homemade sourdough bread. The café is run by brothers Ola and Lars, a baker and a chef, who grew up in Salten on their father’s fish gratin and their mother’s home-baked goods. They prioritize local ingredients and craftsmanship, combining traditional and modern techniques. In the café, you will also find a delicatessen shop where you can buy locally sourced and organic treats. You can choose from a wide range of pasta, flour, jams, coffee, spices, and other snacks.
Craig Alibone Pâtisserie & Champagneria
What could be better than starting a Saturday morning with a champagne brunch and chocolate? In the colorful display, you will find handmade chocolates, macarons, croissants, and other impressive pastries that will make your mouth water just at the thought. At Craig Alibone pâtisserie & champagneria, you will also find an exquisite wine list listed on the Star Wine list, and sweets that are carefully selected to complement each wine.
Samvirkelaget
You should have your coffee at Samvirkelaget, as this is the place for those who appreciate truly good coffee. The place and the people who work here are not your typical “9 to 5” crowd. The servers are young individuals who may have never quite “fit in” or have had a tough start to their careers for various reasons. However, they are passionate about the art of being a barista and deserve a second chance.
Café Turisthytta
The café at Wood Hotel Bodø, is based on Rønvikfjellet, making this the perfect place to combine a hike and food. The café serves delicious food, with fresh and local ingredients. The hotel is placed in the middle of nature, and is the perfect starting point to one Bodø´s most populare hikes – Keiservarden.
An evening of casual fine dining
If you want to treat yourself to multiple courses and excellent wines, we recommend a visit to Lystpå or Txaba – Tapas & Wine Bar. Here, you’ll find a blend of local and global ingredients presented in beautifully arranged dishes. Both are ensuring that you’ll enjoy the perfect wine pairing with each dish.
PS: You don’t need to dress up to visit a fine restaurant in Bodø, as both of these places have a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
LystPå
At Lystpå, you can choose from various three-course menus that are well-composed and beautifully presented. For example, you can try grilled scallops with browned cauliflower puree and mussel sauce, or fresh halibut from Arnøya with pea puree, baked potato, and white wine sauce. And a “sticky toffee” or “passion fruit and almond mousse” for dessert will surely melt in your mouth.
Txaba – Tapas & Wine Bar
At Txaba – Tapas & Wine Bar, you’ll find a variety of small plates and tapas-style dishes for every occasion. There’s a lot of delicious options to choose from. You can also choose from a wide selection of excellent wines, including options by the glass.
3. Here is where you can enjoy a good and social dinner.
Bryggerikaia
This is the place where the people of Bodø gather with good friends, whether it’s in the outdoor seating area during the summer or inside the cozy restaurant. Bryggerikaia is a popular meeting place that serves uncomplicated dishes featuring coastal ingredients all year round. Here, you can enjoy the city’s best mussels, authentic North Norwegian fish soup, grilled stockfish, and the freshest shrimp, among other delicious offerings.
Hundholmen brygghus
Hundholmen is both a restaurant, bar, and brewery. Here, you’ll find a wide selection of great drinks, and on the second floor, you’ll find the mini brewery where they brew their own beer in-house. It’s a must-try if you visit this place. The menu offers a selection of meat and fish dishes with delicious accompaniments and local ingredients. There’s even a separate pub menu available until 10:00 PM. As the evening progresses, Hundholmen becomes the most popular nightlife spot in town, so feel free to settle in and enjoy yourself.
Bjørk
Italian and North Norwegian dishes. We recommend taking a look at the pizza menu, which offers many delicious variations of Italian pizza baked in a stone oven, both with red and white bases. It’s also the place for pasta lovers. But above all, you should try their signature dish, “grilled stockfish”.
Ohma Asian Cooking
What could be better than sushi made with fresh North Norwegian fish? Ohma’s menu offers an exciting Asian crossover combined with high-quality locally sourced ingredients. You’ll also find classics like crispy duck, spring rolls, and dumplings on the menu, served in a beautiful and cozy setting.
4. Good drinking experiences
The icing on the cake is to combine the delicious dishes with good drinking experiences. And the restaurants in Bodø excel in this aspect as well. Both Lystpå, and Craig Alibone pâtisserie & champagneria have wine lists listed on the Star Wine List.
At several places, you can also try the locally brewed beer from Bådin – Ohma, for example, has its own exclusive Bådin beer. Hundholmen brews beer in-house, and several hotel bars offer colorful and flavorful cocktails that you should try towards the end of the evening.
Stop by one of the sky bars, such as Top13 at Radisson Blu Hotel Bodø or Roast on the 17th floor of Scandic Havet. Bar X at the brand new Quality Hotel Ramsalt also serves delightful drinks in the hotel’s lounge area. All of these places have a great atmosphere among both visitors and locals in the evenings.
