About

Enter the past at the crofter`s farm in Kjelvik!

Along the E6 in Sørfold lies Kjelvik, where time has stood still. The last residents, siblings Edvard, Karen, Hans, and Anna Kjelvik, lived here their entire lives and had no heirs. Today, Kjelvik remains an authentic tenant farm, with clothes, furnishings, and tools preserved as they were when Hans Kjelvik passed away in 1967.

Kjelvik is now a protected Sami cultural heritage site. Skilled guides will show you around the small houses and share the fascinating stories of those who lived here. In the barn, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or shop in the charming little museum store.

Throughout the summer, you can participate in exciting events for both adults and children. The tenant farm is an excellent stop along the way, where, in addition to the exhibition, you can take a walk along the old path down to the sea.

Welcome to Husmannsplassen Kjelvik!

There is a well-maintained footpath from the parking area to the croft. The route includes slopes, so assistance may be beneficial for visitors with mobility impairments. The buildings are not adapted for people with reduced mobility. An outdoor toilet is located at the beginning of the path from the parking area.
