Our city walk does not contain any churches, museums, or town halls. Instead, we’ll take you on a journey to uncover the true Bodø – its most captivating stories, its vibrant Arctic pulse, and the mesmerizing “Arctic Light.”

What you’ll discover:

– Bodø’s evolution from a Stone Age settlement to its crowning achievement as the European Capital of Culture 2024.
– Everyday life in the Arctic – feel the rhythm of the north and see how the mighty waves affect the harbor’s wavebreaker.
– Unique and engaging stories guaranteed to leave a lasting impression from the north.
– The profound impact of World War 2 on Bodø.Cold War intrigue – discover why Bodø became Norway’s espionage hotspot. Relive the gripping tale of the U2 spy plane incident, which brought global tension to the city’s doorstep.
– Be amazed by the Arctic light – with its tone of blue and purple reflecting in the sky like a painter’s masterpiece, giving you a glimpse of life at the top of the world.

Important details:

Dress appropriately for 2 hours outdoors in the Arctic weather. The walk is 4.7 km (2.9 miles) long, so bring waterproof outerwear, warm layers (wool or fleece), a beanie, gloves, and good hiking shoes/boots. If conditions require it, we provide spikes for your shoes, but feel free to bring your own if preferred.

This is a truly the most sustainable experience – an exploration of Bodø powered entirely by your own two feet.

Your guide will guide in English throughout the tour, but you’re welcome to ask questions in Norwegian if needed.
