Historically, the small island community has been significant as a fishing village and trading post. Here the fishermen waited for good weather before the crossing to Lofoten. Today, the old trading post has been converted into an accommodation and restaurant, and is a popular place in the summer for visitors from both home and abroad.
Støtt is almost a car-free island, you can walk around freely. The calm pace gives you plenty of time to strike up a conversation with those you meet and to stop and look over the sea at all vantage points. Here you get close to both people and nature.
The island is known for its beautiful white beaches, and we recommend a voyage of discovery around the island with swimwear and lunch in the backpack. Either by foot or by kayak. If you choose the sea route, you can sign up for a paddle course at Støtt Brygge before setting out on a trip alone.
Activities
Rent a kayak, join a guided hike, cycle to the “End of the World” and back, join a fishing trip, RIB rafting, mountain hikes, or simply just look for crabs at the shore. Støtt rents out all you need of equipment for both adults and children.
If you are looking for some quiet activities, you can join a tour at the fishing museum, or just bring your group of friends for a beer on the pier while you enjoy the midnight sun in good company.
Stay and eat
At Støtt Brygge you can spend the night in the old trading place. The historic coastal culture is the identity of the place, and in the rooms you can live in an environment that takes you back in time. Chandeliers, Rococo and Biedermeier furniture, Italian beds and authentic fishing gear are just some of the things you will encounter. Or you can rent a hammock and sleep under the fishing reels.
In Restaurant Gammelbutikken, which is located in the old shop building, you can get culinary seafood dishes such as halibut, whale, bacalao, fish soup, clipfish and book fish.
Getting to Støtt
You can easily get to Støtt by speedboat from Bodø or Ørnes. Check departure times and reserve a seat on the boat.
If you come with your own boat, you can dock at Støtt gjestebrygge.
