National Norwegian Aviation Museum – tells the story of Norwegian aviation history.

About

Welcome to the Norwegian Aviation Museum – and joins us on a journey through Norway’s fascinating military and civil aviation history!

Here you’ll see everything from the legendary U-2 spy plane to iconic fighter jets like the Spitfire and F-16. At the museum, you can experience aviation’s technological marvels up close. But that’s not all – test your own skills in our interactive exhibition “Become a Pilot”.

Come fly with me!
Did you know that Norwegians are among the most frequent flyers in the world? Living in a long and narrow country, airplanes – together with a unique airport network – have made it possible to live and work in rural areas and the north. With us you can learn how this became a reality!

Meet aviation pioneers like Roald Amundsen and Hans Dons, hear about the development of passenger flights, efforts during World War II, and the story of the flight school in Canada. Experience the drama of the Cold War – including how Bodø became world-famous because of the U-2 spy plane. You can explore all this and much more in our atmospheric exhibition halls, where you’ll get up close to both the aircraft and their stories.

Panoramic Views and Aviation Dreams
End your visit with a trip up to the old control tower at Bodø Airport. From here, you’ll get the best view of today’s air traffic – a perfect conclusion to your journey through aviation history.

The museum’s exhibitions aren’t just about planes and technology. You’ll meet the people behind the stories, experience stunning displays, and discover how the dream of flying has shaped lives and society.

Fun for the Whole Family
Bring your family, friends, or partner – there’s something for everyone! Compete in “BECOME A PILOT”, uncover exciting secrets hidden throughout the museum, and enjoy the day together. There’s something to see, learn, and experience for visitors of all ages – kids, teens, adults, families, couples, and groups of friends.
